Q. What is the Quality of Life philosophy?
A. It’s an approach that BCREA has adopted
to articulate the commitment of the real estate profession to
improve the Quality of Life throughout the province. REALTORS®
have always been active in their communities, and Quality of Life
ensures that BCREA reflects that work. The real estate profession
is committed to improving Quality of Life by supporting growth
that encourages economic vitality, provides housing opportunities
and builds communities with good schools and safe neighbourhoods.
Q. How is BCREA using Quality of Life?
A. The Association has incorporated Quality of Life
into all of its program areas, and it is most apparent in BCREA’s
communications and government relations efforts. Specifically,
instead of taking positions on issues that affect only REALTORS®,
BCREA considers how all issues impact the community.
Q. How are individual REALTORS® involved?
A. REALTORS® don’t just trade in real
estate—they promote Quality of Life. According to a 2004
survey, more than 70 per cent of BC REALTORS® volunteer in
their communities. They are your neighbours and they care as much
about safety, health care, education, the environment and the
economy as you do.
Q. What is BCREA’s mandate?
A. The British Columbia Real Estate Association
(BCREA) promotes the interests of the real estate profession on
behalf of its 12 member boards by
-
advocating for the profession
-
securing public support and trust in the real
estate profession through enhanced understanding and awareness
-
promoting property rights and real estate-related
issues
-
ensuring high standards of ethics and professionalism
through ongoing education of REALTORS®
Q. Why does BCREA commission research?
A. When BCREA adopted the Quality of Life philosophy,
it needed a better understanding of how British Columbians felt
about their communities. Public opinion research is invaluable
in planning advocacy strategies and in making recommendations
to BC MLAs to assist with their decision making.
